ITE Educator Professional Development – February 2024!

Want to Learn More about Nature, History and Culture along the Santa Cruz?

Join us for our Spring Educator Professional Development!

Build a sense of place in Tucson while learning about the Santa Cruz Valley National Historical Area.

Join us for bird watching, river walking, historical walks, art in nature and more!

Become a keystone educator in the ITE ecosystem and help share future programs and internships, like Youth for Blue Skies, with youth in your community.

ITE Staff deep in wetland ecology

Compensation: All participants will earn $200 per session (paid in check). We encourage participants to sign up for both sessions, earning $400 total. 

What/Where: 

  • Sat. 2/10: 9:30-2:00pm. History and Culture at Tumacácori National Historical Park: learn about culture, ecology, and interpretive storytelling as we walk through the grounds and along the river.
  • Sat. 2/17: 9:30-2:00pm. Birdwatching at Historic Canoa Ranch: Make connections between wetland ecology, bird watching and history
  • Sat. 5/4: 10:00-2:00pm. Optional, but encouraged- join us at our ITE Season Finale at our Urban Field Station at the Historic Y (738 N. 5th Ave)

Who: Limited Space! We have 12 spots per session. These sessions are open to all teachers and educators (coordinators, classroom teachers, mentors, etc) though preference will be given to folks who work with teenagers.

Transportation: You can carpool or meet us there, OR we’re providing a free shuttle van from ITE (Historic Y, 738 N. 5th Ave) leaving at 8:30am and returning by 3:00pm.
