Join us to explore the diversity of Tucson’s Stormwater Parks!
Apply by September 7th!
When/What/Where: Saturday September 26, 2026 from 8am-3:30pm
Community W.A.T.E.R Advocate program is a partnership between Pima County Regional Flood Control District and Ironwood Tree Experience. This educator workshop is designed to open up the urban landscape as a dynamic area for learning. Pima County’s Stormwater Parks are located across the City. Through engineering that mimics natural systems these parks reduce flooding potential by holding water and supporting an urban oasis of native plants and animals. Educators will get an up close and personal connection with 2 of these parks as potential sites for school programs ranging from the Sciences to Arts and History.
Who: We have limited spots. ITE programs give priority to public high school teachers. However, teachers of any grade are welcome to apply and will be considered if there are open spots in the program. Preference will also be given to public high school teachers who have not enrolled in a PD in the past and to those who work at Catalina High School, Desert View High School, Amphi High School, Pueblo High School, and Sunnyside High School.
Transportation: The program will begin and conclude at Ironwood Tree Experience (Historic Y, 738 N. 5th Ave, 85705 ). You are encouraged to carpool to ITE, we will provide a shuttle van from ITE to and from the project sites.
Compensation: Stipends are available only to public high school teachers who are doing a specific TPD for the first time.
