Join this creative workshop for youth in the Sonoran Desert Borderlands!
What: The “Nature Beneath My Feet” youth Photovoice project is a collaborative effort between the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail and the State of Sonora, Mexico, where you can:
- Connect with other young people in your area
- Receive disposable cameras to document your daily experiences connected to nature, culture, & identity
- Use art & other mediums to showcase your story as a young person living near the US-Mexico border
By participating in this workshop you will have your photos and drawings highlighted on the Modern Stories on the Anza Trail website, accessed through the National Parks Service, as well as have your art and photo creation part of various traveling exhibits throughout southern Arizona and Sonora, Mexico
When: May 17th & 18th, Saturday & Sunday, 10am-12pm
Where: Ironwood Tree Experience, 738 N. 5th Avenue Tucson, AZ 85705
Who: Youth ages 15-18 with any heritage tying them to southern Arizona or Mexico
Transportation: The program will begin and conclude at Ironwood Tree Experience (Historic Y, 738 N. 5th Ave, 85705 ). All participants should coordinate their own transportation.
Compensation: All participants will receive a $50 stipend for completing both days of this workshop.
