Join us to explore the biodiversity of Tucson’s Stormwater Parks!

When/What/Where:  March 29, 2025 from 8am-3:30pm– Community WATER Advocate program is a partnership between Pima County Regional Flood Control District and Ironwood Tree Experience. This educator workshop is designed to open up the urban landscape as a dynamic area for learning. Pima County’s Stormwater Parks are located across the City. Through engineering that mimics natural systems these parks reduce flooding potential by holding water and supporting an urban oasis of native plants and animals. Educators will get an up close and personal connection with 2 of these parks as potential sites for school programs ranging from the Sciences to Arts and History.

Who: High school teachers from Catalina High School, Desert View High School, and Sunnyside High School, are encouraged to apply due to the location of the stormwater parks that we are visiting. High School Teachers from other schools are also encouraged to apply!

Transportation: The program will begin and conclude at Ironwood Tree Experience (Historic Y, 738 N. 5th Ave, 85705 ). You are encouraged to carpool to ITE, we will provide a shuttle van from ITE to and from the project sites.
