Borderland Biology 101

The borderlands of the US and Mexico are rich in flora, fauna, cultural history and present day drama. This dynamic and contested landscape inspires passion while continuing to harbor an amazing diversity of plants and animals – on both sides of the fence. Students visit the borderlands to learn more about the region as a whole as well as discuss the role of wildlife enforcement in this most highly militarized portion of the US-Mexican border. Depending upon level of activity, classes may visit the fence while accompanied by law enforcement.
