Connecting Youth Outdoors through Citizen Science is a Conservation Education program.
ITE has a current, active cooperative agreement with US Forest Service and is an active partner in the USFS Southeast Arizona Sustainable Recreation Strategy for Youth Engagement. In 2016-2017, with support from USFS Ironwood Tree Experience engaged 521 youth in outdoor education programs.
ITE is leading a Youth Action Corps to encourage high school youth to engage in stewardship practices at their homes, schools, and neighborhoods. ITE conducts professional development with local high school administrators and teachers. ITE instructors are youth service providers, educators, and scientists with higher education degrees in environmental science, geology, and wildlife biology and some staff are fluent in Spanish.
