W.A.T.E.R. Internship

Community W.A.T.E.R. Advocates (W.A.T.E.R.)  is an environmental and community-based internship program for high school youth, ages 14-18. In partnership with the Pima County Regional Flood Control District, youth interns will learn how to advocate and promote Stormwater Parks (SWP) and the urban water cycle. This program builds long-term stewardship and advocacy among youth interns and promotes public awareness and support for PCRFCD SWP and sustainable water policies. Pima County teens* are recruited to participate in educational and experiential activities that lead to SWP advocacy. Interns receive stipends for their work to deepen their understanding and proficiency in the urban water cycle and to develop interpretive presentation skills.

By applying you can:

  • Earn a stipend for completing all internship program requirements.
  • Participate in:
    • SWP visits
    • Storytelling focused on local Tucson water
    • Community projects and public events to improve the environment
  • Connect with the land
  • Gain ecological knowledge & environmental monitoring experience
  • Make new friends and connections with other youth across Tucson and southern Arizona

*This Fall internship will be in collaboration with the Amphi Women and Girls Union. ITE will be working with their set group of youth to recruit and accept into this internship. However, we will be offering this internship in the Spring that will be open to all ITE network youth. Thank you for your understanding.
