Wilderness Warriors is one of ITE’s diverse internship programs for youth ages 15-20 and is made possible by our close partnership with The Wilderness Society. Through participation in the Wilderness Warriors program, interns are introduced to the human, natural, and economic benefits of wildlands through direct explorations (hiking, camping, backpacking) and personal discovery of the deserts, mountains, and canyons in Southeast Arizona. Via the collaboration and mentorship of The Wilderness Society and ITE staff, youth gain knowledge and understanding of the management and protection of natural and cultural resources and experience the challenges and successes of wilderness advocacy, policy, and protection.
Join us for the opportunity to hear Wilderness Warrior interns share their experiences and insight on public lands in an intimate poster session highlighting themes such as inclusivity, accessibility, and the protection of natural and cultural resources, followed by a panel discussion on the diverse value of public land and a Q&A around their experiences in the Wilderness Warriors internship.
