GreenLots!
Connecting teens to community is the impetus behind the Ironwood Tree Experience GreenLots! project.
GreenLots! are urban spaces in which ITE teens and the community actively contribute to create natural habitat for youth and for wildlife. We believe that natural play spaces are integral to the creative development and wellness of our kids.
Teens are involved in all aspects of the GreenLots! project from research, planning suggestions and design to implementation and maintenance.
GreenLots! become part of the community as a resource for exploration, discovery and learning. The development of GreenLots! is accomplished by support of the entire Tucson Community and partners who invest time, resources, money and the actual lots!
Our first GreenLot! is located on the northeast corner of Country Club and Broadway. The land itself is owned by a local family whose inspired vision of a livable, beautiful Tucson has made the Ironwood Tree Experience GreenLots! project a reality.
Current Ironwood Tree Experience GreenLots! project partners include:
- Watershed Management Group
- Pima Center for Conversation Education - NRCD
- University of Arizona - Arid Lands Studies
